This 1973 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Convertible has been repaintedin its original Gold Glamour color, with black leather interior. bought this car last summer from the previous owner'sson. The previous owner had purchased itin 1999 and spent several years restoring it; however, he had never licenced itfor the road and it was kept in storage for the past 12 years.During the restoration the previous owner sandblasted andpainted the frame, installed new floor pans, and installed new parts whereverfeasible. The panels were painted whileoff the car. Many parts were replacedand are in new condition, including the bumper chrome, bumper filler panels, windshield,dash pad, convertible top and glass backlite, tonneau cover, carpets, etc. Under the hood, it appears that the radiatorand all belts and hoses are new. Thoseparts that are not as-new are in good condition, with the exception of acracked left front marker lamp lens (pictured). The mileage was reset to during therestoration, so indicated mileage is not original.In getting the car out of storage and ready for the road, Ireplaced all tires with new BF Goodrich T/A raised white letter radials, installednew reproduction Magnum 500 wheeels, rebuilt the carb, replaced points and condenser,and replaced the heater core. havedriven the car about 700 miles with no trouble at all, and it is very strongand smooth.Everything works as it should, including the full factoryinstrumentation with tach, fuel, temp and oil pressure gauges, warning lights,all courtesy lights and switches, sequential turn signals, power windows, powertop with glass backlite, intermittent wipers with washers, tilt steeringcolumn, automatic seatback release solenoids, and the heating and ventilationsystem. This is non-AC car withCleveland 351 2V engine and Traction Lok differential. The AM 8-track radio has been replaced with alater model Ford AM/FM stereo with cassette which looks much like the original andsounds good. All equipment as built isdocumented in the accompanying Marti report.Overall, an excellent-looking, easy-driving, turnkey car to enjoywithout any worries.Ontario buyers will receive valid Ontario Safety StandardsCertificate.
